I'm a religious person and feel that racism is a sin, because you're exalting yourself over others. You're arrogantly suggesting that one of God's creations, one of your own fellow human beings, is somehow lesser than you just because they have a different skin color or culture. You're furthermore stating that God made you as a perfectly wonderful creature, but that He somehow made a huge error when he created that other guy down the street who belongs to a different racial group. We're all humans, so it's wrong for one to show malice toward another just because they happen to come from a different racial category.

In this country - we took land from the Native Americans. Then we brought Africans here and enslaved them. AND - we put the Japanese into camps during WWII. I believe that we NEED for the pedulum to be swinging the other way.
Racism is an ugly thing.
My step-grandfather was a biggot. (He's dead now - and has been for about 20 years) At dinner one night I was telling a story about how I got an afro (I'm very white) hairstyle back in the 70's. My 9 year old said "Why?" - and my boyfriend knowingly joked, "To tick off her step grandfather?" Well - my 9 year old asked, "Did he see it? - and what did he say?" and I honestly replied - "His words were - you look like a ni**&r." And my sweet, wonderful 8 year old asked - "What's a ni#**&r?" I rejoiced like you can't imagine. She had never heard that word and truly had no idea what it meant!!! I was ecstatic - and hopeful that racism was becoming a thing of the past!
Racism serves no purpose.
Namaste!

Hmmmmm, let's see. The U.S. Supreme Court made it a crime to commit a hate crime. Hate crimes are usually motivated towards a certain race, ethnicity, individuals who are considered to be different, and individuals or groups of religious denominations. Since God commanded us to love one another, love the sinner hate the sin, we are our brother's keeper, then yes it would be a sin. We are all made in God's image. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would consider it to be a 100.
You mentioned no other country seems to lose a lot of sleep over that slur? Look how the other countries and how they are blessed. The countries are usually war torn and plagued with diseases, starvation, and poverty.

Sin is separation. Anything that separates us from God or each other is sunful.
Racism and bigotry are two prime examples of hatred in its purist form, so they are also sin in its purist form.
If you are just thinking it, I'd give it a 7. But the problem is that it never stays in a bigot's mind for long. By definition they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, so sooner or later they make the thought into action, at which point it becomes a 10+.

Yes, I think racism is a sin. We all feel it sometimes. Sometimes it may not be the color of the skin but the actions of the particular nationality but it's still racism. God made us all different so we would have a nice variety of people here on earth. What is a nice fruit bowl on the table if it only has oranges in it? It's much better with assorted fruit. lol Love and peace to you all.

I don't think it's the worst sin but yes, by definition racism is hatred against that which you do not understand, or that which you have a lack of empathy for. Who are you to put yourself above God and hate someone based on the color of their skin or genetic background? Pretty uneducated if you ask me. I think it's the same in any country.

Racism implies that you think somebody is better or worse because of their race.
Hello? How can that be NOT bad? You shouldn't even think it; it's definitely 10 if 10 on the "Bad Scale".

Racism is a fool's idea of "fair" judgement when they can't even spell the damn word. I am English, Romanian, and with a "slice" of Egyptian in my blood, and my hair is still dark and somewhat frizzy; I'll give you one guess as to the name I've been called on numerous occasions.
