Brown rice is the same grain as white rice. When rice is harvested it contains a husk on the outside, the bran covering the the kernel, and the kernel or grain. The first milling of the rice removes the husk living the bran, brown rice. A second milling will remove the bran living the grain, white rice. The bran is where the nutrients are so it is healthier.
