my girlfriend asked me to take this week off for her. I promised her I would so I would be able to spend time with her before she leaves for college. She leaves on Saturday. I don't leave for school until September 4th.

All I asked her was if we had to spend the entire 9 days together that I took off and if I could go to a friend's beach house from Saturday night - Monday. She seemed to be very upset that I'm not including her but I can't. It's my one guy friend and his family! He doesn't want anybody else!

I PROMISED HER I would be home by Monday Night!! She asked me if she could stop by early today and I made up a lie that I wanted to sleep. She sadly caught me in that lie. Truth be told I stopped off at another friend's house who lives close by for the night. It was raining and I didn't feel like driving and wanted to hang out with him. I know i PROMISED HER I'd be home last night but does it really make a difference if I'm home by this afternoon or this evening?

you also did wrong by lying to her. You got caught. Accept it. She has a right not to trust you now, so yes, it's probably a big deal if you're home by this afternoon or this evening.

Just tell the truth and stop making promises you cannot keep. That is the problem.

of course you wanna hang out with your friends but she probably felt like you lied to her because you don't want to hang out with her.. never lie!

She perceives that she is not your top priority. And really, it sounds like she is right.
