Put a free sign on it and sit it out by the curb. I guarentee it will be gone.

Well you can go to http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ca and choose the city closest to you in the California and post up a picture of your futon and sell it on that website, it is like a local ebay that has no posting fees and local people around you can see what you are selling and contact you VIA email so you can sell your futon. If you just want to trash it then I suggest looking up your local dump facility and take it there and dispose of it.

If you have time to sell it you'll make a few dollars. If not the Salvation Army is always looking for good second hand furniture. Does anyone in your family or circle of friends need it?

A charity is the best solution. There are tons of charity stores that take used items. You may also be able to find a home for teenage mothers that is run by a church that could use it. If all else fails, put it on the curb with a sign that says "Free." Someone will take it.

Goodwill, habitat for humanity, salvation army, list an ad on craigs' list and the college campuses near there. If you sell it, you pocket the money, if you donate it, it is a tax write off. You will write off the same amount as if you sold it at a garage sale.

My bet is if you put it for sale on the campus, it will be gone in no time since school is back in session.

You can put it outside on the sidewalk...add a for sale sign w/price (or a sign that says "FREE...please take me") or call the local Salvation Army....they will pick it up from your home.

I agree with the other poster, some will even pick up furniture for you. Most have large trucks.
