What is the scariest disease that affects fetuses/babies that you've seen?

The worst thing I have ever seen was not a disease but a birth defect. I saw an anacephalic baby; a baby born without a brain. These babies are often stillborn or die shortly after birth. These poor babies are totally normal except for missing the tops of their heads. It is heartbreaking to see and so devastating for the parents.

I found a photo of one on google that had been aborted. However, the baby I saw was born. Ultra sound wasn't available years ago to diagnose these birth defects. Please note, the photo is very tragic so you might not want to view it:
