The VA is the Veterans Administration. A Cabinet level department of the US Government charged with providing care to and administering benefits of veterans of the US armed forces. Ask how well they do that and you normally get a lot of obscene words. Ask me and I'll agree with the low assessment.

The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is a volunteer service organization whose self stated mission is to aid disabled vets by various means. Membership is limited to disabled vets. I'm not real keen on them at the moment either.

The American Legion is a volunteer service organization open to those who served in the armed forces during specified times, normally times of conflict. Their mission has to do with helping vets.
