why aren't more people killing themselves to get there? Why continue staying on a troubled earth where there is suffering? Logically, wouldn't this make sense? BTW, suicide is not the unforgivable sin. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin, so the suicide=hell crowd can shut up.

Revelations 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

To overcome, is to endure to the end. Suicide is just the opposite. To achieve a great reward, we must do our part and life our lifes as He taught.

Wow, although I have read the bible, I didn't realize it wan't in there, probably from hearing about it so much. so I had to look it up. This is what I found

As Christianity became the dominant religion of the Roman empire, its views on suicide gradually changed. In the fifth century, St. Augustine wrote the book The City of God, in it making Christianity's first overall condemnation of suicide. His biblical justification for this was his novel interpretation of the commandment, "thou shalt not kill", and the rest of his reasons were from Plato's "Phaedra". Although this was a humanitarian opposition, some Christians ended up persecuting suicides, degrading their bodies (sometimes by being buried at crossroads with a stake through their body), defaming their memories, and persecuting their families.

In the sixth century, suicide became a religious sin and secular crime. In 533, those who committed suicide while accused of a crime were denied a Christian burial, which was a requirement for going to heaven. In 562, all suicides were punished in this way. In 693, even the attempt of suicide became an ecclesiastical crime, which could be punished by excommunication, with civil consequences following. In the 13th century Thomas Aquinas vilified suicide as an act against God and as a sin for which one could not repent. Civil and criminal laws were enacted to discourage suicide, and as well as denying a proper burial and degrading the body, property and possessions of the deceased and their family were confiscated.[2][3]

Many Christians believe in the sanctity of human life, a principle which, broadly speaking, says that all human life is sacred – a wonderful, even miraculous creation of the divine God – and every effort must be made to save and preserve it whenever possible.

It was not until about a thousand years after St. Augustine that Christians again questioned suicide. Thus, even while believing that suicide is generally wrong, liberal Christians may hold that people who choose suicide are severely distressed and that the loving God of Christianity can forgive such an act

Yes, the earth does have a lot of suffering. As a bible reader, I look forward to the many things that are predicted.

Such as - 2 Peter 3: 13
Psalms 37:9-11
Proverbs 2:21,22
Revelation 21 ; 1-4 ( and many more)

please take some time and look these scriptures up.

you will see that our Creator has wonderful plans for mankind!! plans that do NOT include suffering!!

This is the reason why we need to study our Bibles.
-When we die, we do not go straight to heaven, or hell. The dead know nothing until resurrection morning, which will take place when Jesus returns.1Thess.4:16-17
-If a person commits suicide, they will not take part of the first resurrection, with the saved. So the idea of committing suicide to get to heaven, is not Biblical.
-Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit- The unforgivable sin, why the Holy Spirit? 1John1:9/Mat.12:31-32
Holy Spirit=the agency by which we are forgiven; it guides, teaches, convicts.
Blasphemy=claiming for oneself the atributes and rights of God. Putting oneself in the place of God.
The Holy Spirit brings forth our desire to confess and repent. When we continuously refuse the works of the spirit in our lives to repent from our sins; when we continuously reject His call, we are committing Blasphemy.
In other words He cannot forgive us because we reject His forgiveness.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in us and our bodies were given to us by God. Our bodies do not belong to us, for The Lord bought us with a very high price-His precious blood.
So we must honor God with our bodies. 1Cor.6:18-20
Once you are dead, you cannot seek forgiveness for your sins.

Alot of suicide bombers are. You stay on a troubled earth because God damned you into existence, usually your first and last unless you choose Lucifer, and you cannot kill yourself or God will continue your damning in existence by sending you to heaven or hell - they are the same. Suicide is a sin because you are ending God's existence early and that's not fair cause he damned you, so you are punished by a continued existence and that may be heaven or hell.

Yes, of course. And why is it that the fundamentalist christians are the ones to try to keep everyone alive? Actually, the fundy muslims rather have the right idea.... kill off people in the name of the holy war (Jihad) , and instantly go to paradise with 17 virgins ( or is it 17 Virginians, I forget).

yes, blasphemy is the unforgivable sin... but, when you kill yourself, you are in a way playin a rle you have no right to play... and how do you ask for forgiveness after you commit suicide? suicide??oh and btw... people dont go to heaven immediately after they die... we do not go to heaven until CHRIST comes for us.. until then we are in a place of holding... so it wouldnt get us to heaven any faster by killing ourself.

Watch "What Dreams May Come", with Robin Williams. It is fiction, but brings up some good points concerning the afterlife to ponder.

I my opinion the whole idea of heaven is farce, the welfare of humankind and the equilibrium of the universe is far more important than self centered idea of being accepted into heaven.
