Dear Fen,
When i open a bacon package I always put it in a gallon size zipper bag and store it in the deli part of my fridge where the lunch meats go...
Also if I only want to buy bacon and only take out what I will use...I open the bacon and cut it into however many peices I think I will want for a meal and place each little section like 4 slices in an individual freezer bag so all I have to do is take out one bag open it up put it in the microwave for a few min to defrost and then either cook it in the microwave or stove top.

They say the coldest part of the fridge is near the pack, avoid the side doors.
Although an open bacon pack won't last too long in the first place.. oh welll.
Goodluck!

I've worked in food service & the rule of thumb is no longer than 4 days. This same rule applies to lunch meats also. Bacon freezes well, so just freeze what you don't use. When it's taken out of the freezer, use what's left within 24 hours & you should be ok.

The cold closet will work fine. If you have a "meat keeper" or drawer on the bottom of the cold closet that would be even better. It will last a long time if you wrap it up well in cling wrap or a zipper bag.

If it's opened, then the fridge. And make sure it's not above any other foods, or put it on a plate. You don't want raw bacon juice dripping or oozing onto anything else.

put it in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge (usually with the eggs). it will be good for about 2 weeks that way.
