I think that is the best laugh I've have in a long time. Now, who am I to say never? Some pirate spirit somewhere had something to say through you and off you went.
But seriously, I've been around pentacostal churches much of my life and never spoken in tongues. Some people can and some can't, but the Bible very explicitly states (Paul I think) that different people have different gifts, and that speaking in tongues is not the most important of those. Some people's talent is arranging the folding chairs before the service, and that is probably just as imporant! Where would everybody sit?

You need to get your sea legs Jack......go outside, find a mud puddle or bigger, splash around in it, buy some booze, dress yourself like a pirate and you might feel more the part.......mmmmmm..........you must be taking lessons from Darth Cheney....aarrrrrgggggghhhhhh.......maybe that's all it really is anyhow, you should perfect it! Just watching out for you......yeah, if you're currently rockin' the Johnny Depp look then stop fighting it. Drink enough and you'll be speaking in tongues in no time!

Perhaps you should ask for this gift after you get to know the Giver. For now, you need to watch more Captain Morgan commercials, and enter the contest for manly men posing in various settings to show they "Have a little Captain in them." Son, please tell me your were going to have your own ship! Do you have any idea what could happen at sea if you sign on as an underling? Please steal your own ship!

speaking in tongues is NOT standing up in front of people saying gibberish. Speaking in tongues is speaking more than one language that makes sense to people. Anyone can say anything and say they're talking in tongues.

JACK, with that Aussie accent, I don't think you could EVER sound like a pirate...

"Speaking in tongues" is something over which you have no control. It happens on its own. If you try to make it happen, it's phoney and sounds like a pirate. Aaaarrrrrggggghhh!
