It is the end of the summer and not cold, I know he gets scared easily and hides his face under my neck if I pick him up. But everytime I try to get him to go for a walk outside he shakes ALOT and it scares me--Is it possible for him to have heart failure or should I just keep trying to get him outside? I want him to have exercise as we live in a one bedroom appartment (to him it's big) But it is not enough to ware him out for the night. Has anyone experienced similar problems?
Any advice would be great!

** He is 9 weeks old

This is something a lot of Chihuahua's "just do". Mostly they are just timid and get nervous when they are around people they don't know, or in this case, when they go outside.

He is still a baby and taking everything in. It is wonderful though that he trusts you and looks to you for "protection".

Fear,Chihuahuas are easily scared and chilled.Just keep taking him out and maybe get down on the ground with him ,down on his level and show him it is okay to be down there. You should always use a harness instead of a collar so you won't damage his throat or strangle him.He is still very young ,don't expect too much for several months, except play.Just be persistent and take him back to the same area each time.Good Luck! The shaking is very common in Chihuahuas, nothing to be worried about.

I have a 9 week old female chihuahua puppy that does the same thing it just means that they are afraid of the large space, i let Airabella walk off the leash and she stops shaking and concentrates on following me, you have to take them out several times a day for them to get use to it .

I read somewhere that smaller dogs, such as Chihuahua's, shake often because of various reasons, such as anxiety, being afraid, excited, anxious, etc. I would just keep taking him outside, let him have good experiences out there, like playing with his toys in the warm sun & I think he should be ok once he learns that outside is good and not scary.

Is it possible to take him for a carry? It's a bit Paris Hilton, but it'll get him used to the sights and sounds of the great outdoors while feeling safe and protected up close next to you.
