Too many eggs can also raise your cholesterol to unhealthy levels. However, 3-4 egg yolks a week can be eaten without any problems. Egg whites are not limited because they don't contain the levels of cholesterol that the yolks do.

The Egg Board used to say 3 a week, otherwise you'll get high cholesterol. I think they've relaxed that in the past several years. Something like "if a casserole contains one egg, and you eat one serving of it, that doesn't really count as 1 egg." So they're kind of saying that you can't eat 4 hard boiled eggs, but 3, and the eggs in the meatloaf are negligible since it's not the main food. It is confusing.

They used to say to many is bad for you. Now I don't think it matters. Some weeks I'll eat 7 or 8 eggs in a week. Some weeks one if I'm lucky. I'm still here to talk about it. Eggs are a good source of protein.

dear User,
the average egg consumption is up to the average joe, butI I have recently had to put myself on a low cholesterol diet, myself for weight loss and my husband for very high cholesterol readings...trust me when I say it has been very hard to do as i have been used to cooking the good old fashioned way..lots of butter, creams, fried foods cakes pies all home made.
I found out that you need to consume only 300 gms of cholesterol per day and a whole egg runs anywhere from 190 to 219 grms of cholesterol depending on the size of the egg,now the egg white is absoultly free of anything, and I tried a new way to not eat the yellow what I did was add mrs Dash seasoning to it with salt and pepper to about 3 egg whites and its really is good.
The dangers of eating too many eggs is >high cholesterol and causes hardening of the arteries.so go easy on the eggs or try the new egg subsitutes! good luck

one egg contains all the colesteral you should have for one day, so I'd limit eggs to about twice a week. Eggs are good for you, so don't cut them out of your diet completely.
