I'm just wondering if there are US Marine bases in Vietnam, so when i join the marine i could ask to be deployed there.
or where else near Vietnam do you know?

No, Okinawa Japan is the largest Marine Corps base in the area, from there we deploy to Korea, Thailand,mainland Japan.The US Marines are due to leave Okinawa in the near future, they will be relocated to Guam,

They are all gone
One of the bases I was at is now a soccer field
You can not serve in Vietnam
Thailand would be the closest
But being in the Military you would not be allowed to enter Vietnam
everything has changed

I don't know if they are Marines but we have troops in the DMZ -Demilitarized Zone, the border between North and South Korea. I've heard as many as 37,000 troops stationed in South Korea.

there are no permanent military installations in Viet Nam. The only deployment you would see would be humanitarian aid or body recovery.

Closest Permanent locations are in Japan and Korea.

no there are no more military ops going on over there... we have recovery teams over there now recovering the remains of bodies from Vietnam War
