You may try contacting your local humane society. Ours has spay/neuter events twice a year with either free or greatly reduced prices for the services.

You can call 1-800 spay usa, that is 1-800-742-9872 for a low cost spay program in your area. Also try the search engine for free spay programs in your area...there may be some. Also call shelters and explain that you want to do the responsible thing and have your dogs spayed/neutered but have limited funds. They may be able to steer you in the right direction. Kudo's to you for the choice responsible choice!

There probably are low cost spay neuter clinics but beware if they are free unless it is a shelter /humane society. There was a real person who went to one and they instead of being free charged 20 dollars and then did the operation with COOKING UTENSILS! They did not properly saniatize...The dog died 1 wk later....Better not to take the risk and go to a vet you trust...in WA, spays are about $70 and neuters about $60...

Since you're in the L.A. area, Long Beach shouldn't be too far from you. Contact the Golden State Humane Society at (562) 423-8406. Although it isn't free, they only charge $30 for the procedure plus $10 for pain killer medicine. Best of all, you get to take your dogs home the same day. It's the cheapest that I've found.

You can get the wellness program at banfeild. It's like doggy insurance for the first year of their life. You can get it for 350$-and it will make your bill go down to 50. Our bill was 1,200 for spaying one single dog. We only paided 50 because of the wellness, and all the other puppy shots were free.
But, for a male would be 500-600 in a normal vets. You might be able to go to ASPCA and they will do it for 50-60$.
You also have to look at the pros and cons. The cons are, he won't be as fast moving, nor that playful anymore. The pros? He will mellow out. The cost of getting medicine and surgery for him if he gets an illness from this would be the price of geting 15 dogs neutererd. He will live longer.

If you can't afford it you can usually get assistance from your local shelter. But if you are looking for a free-bee, maybe you should think twice about having a pet. They can be expensive if you are going to keep them healthy and well fed for 15 years or so.
