focus on eating healthy foods-- eat as many fruits and vegetables as you like. Try to stay away from processed foods and sugar: eggs are fine in moderation; poptarts are junk food. Honey Nut Cheerios have a lot of sugar per serving, but regular cheerios do not (and you could add some berries or bananas for extra sweetness). Some breads are loaded with extra sugar and fat, but there are also whole grain breads that have very little added junk-- read the labels and if it has a bunch of stuff you can't pronounce, don't eat it.
Also, at 14, you need to make sure you're getting ENOUGH NUTRITIOUS food-- more fruits, veggies, whole grains and proteins, and less fat and sugar.
Be careful, be happy!

walking is the best exercise. riding your bike or swimming are good. dancing can burn a lot of calories. get rid of the pop-tarts. they aren't good for anything, even though they taste great. eggs are OK and anything whole grain, like cheerios. I eat honey nut cheerios every morning. lean meat, fresh fruits, raw or steamed vegetables, low fat dairy make it a well balanced diet. this site will help you a lot with diet and exercise. it's great that you're doing this now. you're right, it's easier to not gain weight than try to lose it later in life.

This is part of an article that changed my life....I love it...
It is important to enjoy good, healthy food and drink in moderate quantity. Food should be consumed not in a vain attempt to fill emotional desires but in accord with your actual physical needs. See the food you eat as sustaining and nourishing, and enjoy it by being mindful of every taste you take. Try to be aware of the process of each sip of liquid and bite of food, and consciously follow the food’s movements in your body as far as you can. Feel that the food and drink are not only satisfying your hunger and thirst, but also generating health in your body and mind. Wish the same enjoyment for all beings. Appreciate and be thankful for the pleasure of every sip and bite you take.
read the whole article on the buddist method of eating healthy.
peace
