Okay-No secret here that I like to post articles for thought and discussion on the 2nd Coming of Christ and everything that leads to that Glorious event.
I see the End Times as the most miraculous, marvelous and joyous time for the human race....That does not mean that human life on earth is horrible, altough for some without shelter, food, love of family and friends might think it is, but it's like something you look forward to because nothing but GOoD will come from it, and who in thier right mind does not want to see a Perfect World? with nothing but Perfection of Love and Happiness come to the planet and entire universe...
Do you see anything in pertaining to this world ending, as Gloom and Doom because you only see your life having any meaning of life and substance the short time you walk this planet?

First of all, atheists do not believe in such a thing as the "end times" the way fundamentalist Christians describe them. But many of them are disturbed by the keen interest some Christians have in trying to make them come about. It's as if Christians are saying, "This world stinks, so let's break it and God will give us a shiny new one!"
Yes, the human world has its problems, a natural result of human ignorance and fear. But there is always room for improvement. Rolling up one's sleeves and getting to work is a far more positive response to a problem than throwing up one's hands and waiting for God to fix everything.
In human experience, whenever anyone has promised a new, "perfect" solution, sight unseen, to a customer's current woes, the result has usually been a sudden shifting of funds, an initial elation, and an eventual disillusionment when the product does not perform as promised. In the case of Christian preachers, the product is not available until after death (either of the individual or of the "world"), when no refunds or guarantees will be available. In any other setting, this would be identified as a scam, but not when a representative of "God" is the salesman. The promise that your old wreck of a world will be properly destroyed and disposed of makes the proposition even more suspicious. Until the new car is actually delivered, do NOT get out the sledgehammers!
At the very least, can Christians allow "God" to work on his own timetable, rather than trying to rush things along? Take an interest in spricing the old place up while you're waiting, eh?

Who in their right mind would ENJOY a perfect world? Life's mishaps make it interesting... Substance and meaning are derived from the little mishaps and "bad" things that happen to us in day to day life.
No. I don't see the world ending at all. I see humans being incredibly destructive... but the end of the world? Nope.

I would say that focusing on the end of everything and finding joy in that is not only morbid but dangerous. Such beliefs are especially dangerous when world leaders adhere to them (Bush, that Iranian guy, etc). I prefer to focus on the beauty and joy to be found in THIS life.

I can understand the way you feel. The members of Heaven's Gate and the followers of Jonestown had the same ideology.
The problem is that this 2nd Coming just isn't true. There wasn't even a 1st Coming. It's all a myth and you were indoctrinated into it before you were even born.

I just don't understand why you have such an obsession with the end of the world. If heaven is so glorious what are you waiting for?

No end of times. Take heart, there have been a hundred generations before you that have waited for the end of times all their lives. They died unfulfilled, but it's different for you because... you're still alive and waiting.

I may share something with believers in that I do think that many kind will likely have catastrophic. They say it will be Armageddon. I say it will be due to nuclear war or continued environment degradation.

All I know is it must be a sad life hoping for the End of Times to deliver love and happiness.
If you think about it, it's actually sick and perverse.

I honestly put about as little thought into the END TIMES as I do into the number of angels who can dance on the head of a pin.
