Does it offer antidotes to painful experiences?
But it is BLIND, don't you find?

I never understood how blind faith can comfort anyone. Its BLIND for goodness sake. NO tangible evidence of a god, NO evidence of his existence, a debunked bible, totally invisible, and the only way you can meet is to DIE.

How the heck is comforting?

Men before us:
1. Endured torture & some were saved from fire, and
2. Others witnessed resurrections and splitting of the sea (Today, many would call it hogwash; but if you tell people way back 5 centuries ago that metals can fly. They will also call it hogwash ).

The book that is the basis of my faith:
3. has so many fulfilled prophecies, is way ahead in science with regard to certain truths like the earth is round, that man has DNA or book of life, etc, and it

4. contains principles that I have followed and thus I have experienced peaceful and healthy life.

In short, my faith is not blind. And, my life has a sure meaning and wholeness. I really believe and trust in Jesus' promise that the meek shall inherit the earh.

So, what about your life? Do you find it senseless and empty?

This question presupposes that creationism involves a faith that ignores facts while evolution is not based on faith at all.

This presupposition is false. Evolution as a statement about origins cannot be proven. Even if an orangutan gave birth to a human child we could not be sure that this is how we all came to be. It would evidence that would make it a lot easier to believe. Of course no such hard evidence exists. We do have organisms showing amazing adaptations to their environment which is relabeled micro-evolution and much geological and biological facts are interpreted through the evolution world view. But this interpretation is based on faith that this theory is true.

Creationists also look at the same concrete facts and find compelling evidence for an origin that was designed by a powerful and intelligent being. They make their decision based on this evidence.

In both cases it is a matter of faith and it is quite debatable which side is ignoring facts for the sake of their philosophical precommitments. But at least one side is transparent that faith is involved and the other is ignorant of even that.

Even though I do not dismiss Evolution I do not have the problem with those who want to believe in creationism. To me it is part of their Freedom of Religion. If we let people believe in Buddhism and their finding Nirvana and Hinduism and its belief in rebirth in other forms why would you feel that a Christian can not believe in the literal reading of the Bible and that God created the world in seven days and all the creatures on it. In Christianity we are told by Christ in His conversation with the Apostle Thomas after the Resurrection that many will come after him that will believe without being able to touch the wounds of our Christ. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindi, and Buddhists do all have a faith in things that disbelievers would see as Blind Faith as you call it but is the foundation of our love for our God.

I think we are all Creationists aren't we?

We all KNOW we were created, we just disagree on exactly how.

There are theories, but nothing that is accepted as absolute fact, and to me as a Catholic, it really does not matter, we know we were created, I as a christian have blind faith that God created us. Others have blind faith that we just accidentally came into being.

Either way, it takes faith.

I don't consider my faith blind because as I get older, the words in the bible and the teachings of the Church make more and more sense, they are there to not only help us get to heaven, but to also make us truly happy while on earth.

Peace be with you!

you're truthfully committing the comparable crime they are. quite that many atheists in simple terms don't understand the religious info which you have the proves to you that there is a God. they arrive on right here and say there is not any info, and which you're loopy, yet you already know out of your guy or woman very own journey that they are incorrect. people who're religious have stories and thoughts that persons who're not have not got, and that's their info (regardless of the reality that i'm surprised at what number religious human beings have no concept approximately this). whether or not those stories and thoughts are valid is irrelevant, simply by fact somebody who does not have them won't be able to diagnose something they don't completely understand or journey themselves. the certainty is that Darwinists are the comparable. a lot of them have an understand-how of technological expertise which you needless to say have not got. You needless to say do not likely have any variety of life like carry close on what evolution is, or what info exists to assist it, or perhaps any elementary understand-how on how info paintings (the "odds" you're employing to coach the unlikelihood of random danger are reciprocal, and are actual circled to coach the statistical unlikelihood of God). yet you come back in right here and attempt to argue technological expertise, even however you do not likely understand the techniques in touch. what's the version between that and an atheist arguing with you that God does not exist? it quite is authentic that some Darwinists even have not got an entire understand-how of evolution, yet in simple terms have self assurance simply by fact the scientists say so. it is an act of religion, to make valuable. that doesn't lead them to incorrect any further than you believing in God on faith makes you incorrect. the certainty is that there are multiple religious human beings on right here that don't look to appreciate a element approximately faith. it quite is not any distinctive. i think of you're able to do better than this.

Test every spirit!

There's no choice about having blind faith in love because you can't prove love. God is love.

Everything else is suspect. If someone tells you you're going to hell because you aren't following the law of the old testament then think about this person; was what they said based on unconditional love. If the answer is no or you can tell it's just them being judgmental then feel free to ignore them.

Blind faith in unconditional love. Test everything else.

Rove, I think your question needs an objective answer and Creationists simply are unable to provide anything other than recitations of scripture. You are in essense asking them to admit that they blindly believe. They have faith and because of that they do not see it as belief, they see it as fact.
Asking a person if their faith is blind is like asking someone to admit they are wasting their life on something they hold dear.

Faith: (N.) The voluntary belief in something that cannot be proven.
Blind Faith: (N) As above, but with a sunglasses and a cane...or was it Cain?

I happen to not be atheist, I'm probably closer to agnostic. But, as we understand the definition of agnosticism, it's not a lack of a belief system. It's more of an "open to further investigation" perception. I think the author Zelazny best described it. "I don't understand the nature of God and I don't think you do either." Which means to me, "Don't tell me what to believe when you do not have any more a clue than I."

Faith is not inherently bad, have you ever seen an atom?
Do you believe in them?
Do you believe the center of the Earth has a molten core?
Do you think the diversity of life has expanded to its present magnitude from a much less diverse sample of life?

If we even only believe in one of these, we have faith because we, with our own eyes have seen these things and have to rely on the eyes and words of others.
Asking a creationist if they sleep better at night because they are devout, you get a yes and testaments to the level of their faith.

I don't believe in blind faith, so I guess not. I believe in faith based on the evidence.

Now who's got the blind faith? We've got an eye witness of creation. You don't.All you have is what your school teacher indoctrinated you with. You are the one taking evolution a priori. We're not.It takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe in God.I have a savior that loves me,and wants to spend eternity with me.All you have is ancestors that were rearranged pond scum. You should think more of yourself. You were wonderfully and fearfully created by God himself.
