Randy, I am Catholic and my husband was, and turned Atheist. We have a beautiful marriage that is strong and solid, with four beautiful children. He treats me with RESPECT!

No.
God created mankind in His image...male and female.

And we are all ONE in Christ Jesus.

As it is written:
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, salve nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
-Galatians 3:28

And again:
"For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free - and we were all given the one Spirit to drink"
-1 Corinthians 12:13

And...again:
"There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
-Ephesians 4:4-6

Jesus Christ is above all; our "Head" - and we, though being different sexes and having different gifts and being from different backgrounds, different countries, different races, etc...are all equally a part of the "body of Christ".

We are ONE in Jesus Christ, and He is "above" us.

Even in marriage, the two become one flesh:
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."
-Ephesians 5:31

As an atheist previously christian, I have never felt like this. I believe that women have sometimes more power than men and they have certain roles in society that a man cannot do. I think both the functions of men and women are complementary to each other, A man cannot function by himself, a woman cannot function by herself. I believe also that the physiologic differences between a man and woman makes the difference in their functions and roles.

This question breaks my heart. I am a Christian woman and there is nothing that Jesus ever taught that said a husband should "lord it over" his wife. Quite the opposite, the new testament says a man should love his wife "as Christ does the church".

Perhaps many people get their ideas from the old testament, in the days where women were treated as chattel. When Jesus came, things changed. He lifted up women. He quieted his own disciples when a woman came to anoint His head with perfume. Who did Jesus appear to, when his disciples were hiding on the day He rose from the dead? A woman.

A Christian marriage can be a beautiful harmony between man and wife, based on Jesus Christ and mutual love and respect.

When God Made Man He gave Authority over the fish, fowl and over all the creeps and crawaleth on the Earth. If you look in that List in the Beginning of Genesis; Women are Not in the List...
God Gave Authority to MAN (Gensis 5:2) The name of Creation is MAN (means Male and Female). Do I belive
Male and Above Female. No

This is why I stay single. I just don't like how men behave more and more egotistical getting towards judgment day. As we move further into the future, humans become less and less perfect therefore their minds and bodies are opened up to any sort of imperfection and ill-mannered thinking there is.

I am staying single until Armageddon. You just cannot trust men these days and it won't get better before it gets much worse.

No way. Also many woman in the Bible, were leaders, such as Miriam and debroah. Also it is false when some say Paul didn't like woman. There was a woman teacher that he thought very much of named Priscilla. He even had a pet name for her Prisca.

Ugh.

I'm non-Christian, but I do know the Bible as I attend a Catholic girls' school. Haven't you heard the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman? Jesus spoke to and interacted with people of all types, treating women the same as men.

Any Christian who believes that women are beneath men needs a swift smack on the head with a crucifix.

Men and women have different roles in life. Man is soupier to women at being a man. Women are soupier to man at being a women. One is not necessarily better than one. God made man in his image male and female created he them. See Genesis chapters 1 and 2.

God created man and woman equal, but we have differences. The man is to lay down his life for the woman.

Sorry for you, there is a beauty to the relationship between man and woman as described by God. it is yielding and loving.

It does not compete, but rather compliment. It is so sad you cannot see it.

(Well then, so glad you have a good marriage. So your question is a point of observation not in your personal experience, then where?)

Yes, the christian faith says a man takes a woman and a woman gives herself to a man. If you believe other than you are not a Christian women.

PS it doesnt make one better or worse than the other but that wasnt your question now was it?

Yes, and No. I believe Men and women are equal yet men are the head and women are the help mate. Men are supposed to take responsiblity for their families, women help, but they shouldn't have to lead the family themselves ya know.

Overall We are Equal, But to be a Man you have to take Most of the responibilty and take care of your family. So No Men aren't above women.
