My father-in-law says that Roman Catholic gravestones are different from protestant ones. I have never noticed myself, and can't be bothered to go out of the house and find out. Is he telling the truth?

Never heard of that. I'd guess Catholic gravestones are more likely to include depictions of crucifixes or images of Mary. And they'd be located in Catholic cemeteries. Otherwise, I doubt there's a difference.

It used to be that Protestant gravestones in the Anglo-Saxon world did not normally have crosses or crucifixes, while Catholic ones did. However, this isn't as true as it once was.

I have spent many years photographing cemeteries and haven't really noticed much of a difference overall. Oh, occasionally there will be a Catholic stone with a crucifix or rosary on it, but overall there isn't much difference.

UNLESS it is the headstone of a Priest, Sister, Nun, Brother, or Deacon - then there is a difference.

Catholic (church of Rome) gravestones often show a cross of Christ crucified - the sacrifice.
Protestant gravestones often show the naked cross - Christ's Victory

It doesn't matter no one is in graves now only their old body that they don't need anymore, they are all in the spirit world.
