the basic principals of Messianic Judaism? Some call it a different branch of Judaism, whilst others call it Christianity. Does anyone know anything about it?

To be honest with you, Christianity is Messianic Judaism. Jesus Christ is of Jewish descent. The twelve apostles were of Jewish descent. The beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that Almighty God expanded His exclusive relationship with the Jews/Israel to the Gentiles (non-Jews) by faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to His Teachings and Holy Scriptures. I am learning more now about Jewish tradition and heritage to obtain a richer understanding of my faith and relationship with Almighty God through Jesus Christ. In John 4: 22, Jesus declared to the Samaritan woman at the well that... "... salvation is FROM the Jews." (NIV) Also, in Romans Chapters 9 - 11, Paul details this beautiful mystery of the how salvation from the Jews was Almighty God's choice and plan for the salvation of the Gentiles (non-Jews). More increasing, Christians are embracing their Jewish heritage, such as Christians United for Israel (http://www.CUFI.org), Voice of Evangelism's Perry Stone (http://www.VOE.org), and God's News Behind The News (http://www.GodsNews.com). It's beautiful and incredible to witness the reunion/restoration of the two faith [Judaism and Christianity] and two peoples [Jew and Gentile] who worship in spirit and truth the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There are more details on Messsianic Judaism at Answers.com (http://www.answers.com/topic/messianic-judaism). Lastly, I have one, final question: Are you ready for ETERNITY? (http://www.NeedGod.com) I know that I am... and I hope you are, too! Enjoy! [(\o/)(XP)]

Messianic Judaism is a threat to modern Judaism, so they will say things such as "If you accept Jesus as Messiah, then you are no longer a Jew, but a Christian." (see posts below) Yet these same folk will look as a secular Jew who does not believe in G-d at all, yet still consider them a Jew. Go figure.

A Messianic Jew is merely a person of the Hebrew lineage who has read the Tonakh and have come to believe the prophecies therein that Yeshua is the promised Meshiach.

The church was established at Pentecost by Messianic Jews.
The first martyr was a Messianic Jew.
Our Bible was written by Messianic Jews.
And the Gospel is going to be preached during the tribulation period by Messianic Jews.

As for those who say you cannot believe in Jesus and still be a Jew. You will have to argue with Paul about that.

Acts 22:3
“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today."

Acts 24:14
"But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets."

Acts 26:5-6
“...according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers."

Just because you believe in the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy of your scriptures does not change your lineage. That would be some trick. A Jew is one who has a Jewish lineage and believes in the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Period!

Acts 26:22
"Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come."

Christianity has a problem. The problem is the Jews. According to Christianity, Jesus Christ is a Jew and primarily took his message to Jews. And for over 2000 years, the Jews have rejected his message and the religion founded on his teachings. The rejection of Jesus Christ by the Jews constantly and consistantly throws major doubt on the validity of Christianity. If Jesus Christ's own people rejected him, is he 'real'??!?! For 2000 years Christianity has attempt to solve this problem by converting the Jews. And for 2000 years, Christian Missionaries have failed miserably. And when Christian Missionareis get tired of failing, they start persecuting, torturing and killing Jews.

'Messianic Judaism' is the most current attempt to convert the Jews. It is exclusively an American evangelic Christian attempt. 'Messianic Judaism' is a Christian organization, operating on Christian theology, run by Christians and funded by Christian money. The thin scattering of real Jews amoungst it ranks is a sham, a grift, being used as Judas goats, to lure un-suspecting and ignorant Jews. Like all other Christian attempts at converting the Jews, it is failing, miserably. In effect, it is just another Chirstian denomiation, playing 'dress up'. Its leaders spend all of their time condemning each other over matters of Christian theology and who is 'more Jewish'.
NO Jewish organization in the world recognizes the 'Messianic Jews' as a Jewish organization. Its leaders are part of NO Jewish yeshiva or charity board, are NEVER a member of the local or national Rabbinic fellowship and NEVER are invited to interact with any Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist or Orthodox organization.
Those Christian Missionaries involved with 'Messianic Judaism' are involved in identity thief. They have so little trust and faith in Christianity that they have to hide it under a fake Jewish shaydel.

There is nothing Jewish about Messianic Judaism. It is a Christian denomination. Yes, they celebrate Jewish holidays, but any belief is Jesus as the Messiah, son of God = Christianity.

I believe that it is a sect of Judaism that is parallel with us (Christians) as far as Jesus being the Messiah.

They believe in the same things that we do......

They also have an organization called "Jews for Jesus" I think

Not Jewish at all. It's evangelical Christianity made up to look like Judaism. The idea is to hoodwink unwary Jews into inadvertently converting. They pray, sing, celebrate and look like Jews but they are really Christians. When they read the Jewish scriptures, it;s always with a Christian "understanding". Principles? That's the one thing they DON'T have!

Ex-Jews (religion, not ethnicity) converted to Christinsanity but hanging onto their Jewish roots. It's no more a branch of Judaism than Christianity in general is; of course, they are all interrelated...see below.
