Hang out Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village and listen to the comedians, guitar pickers, and performers in general. Also follow an independent film crew around the park.

So nobody will necessarily tell you this, but you really don't NEED to go to Ellis Island and on top of the Statue of Liberty. The lines are ridiculously long, especially during this season, and it is expensive and you will waste an entire day on just this one activity. Instead, go to Ground Zero and Wall Street, from there walk in Battery Park and take the Staten Island Ferry. The Ferry costs 50 cents and goes right under the Statue of Liberty, so you can get great pictures from up close! Just don't get off when it gets to Staten Island, and ride back on the same ferry. Cheap and fun!

Also, I would suggest Times Square and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum (which is in Times Square). It is a whole lot of fun, and different from other cities. I wouldn't waste time on a Broadway play, either, since you don't have too much of it.

Have fun!

Take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty go up to the crown--I think the crown is now open---you get a beautiful view of NY/NJ from there... Also the Empire state building IF THE WEATHER IS CLEAR is a wonderful sight to see from the observation deck... ...go to Macy's and Times Square--34th Street and 42nd street (BROADWAY)... go online to see what Broadway shows have tickets available so you can see a show at night..... Go to the Hayden Planitarium, St. Patricks Cathedral, China Town, Yankee Stadium--but no games are played there this weekend...but you CAN take an inside tour... go to Battery Park or Central Park for a carriage ride view of the park... there's the Museum . Plenty of things to do... hop a subway over to Astoria Park and go to SHEA Stadium for a METS GAME---since the Yankees aren't in town, the Mets WILL be...... go to Penn Central Station...

You should go to central park and check out that little cottage looking building. They have a marionette show there that is pretty neat! Go to chinatown and look around...geez there are tons of stuff to do, you'll never have enough time to do it all!
