a book can not be interogated a peson can. It is thus easier to see the lie when a person tells you one than that a book tells you one because of multiple interpretations.

At the time the book was written -it may have been the truth and later discoveries proved differently. In your face lies may also be just mistaken info and not an intentional lie. It depends on the subject matter.

There's no difference... a lie is a lie.
but the worse part is if people believe the lie, even without evidence or verification, you know, like religious believers do.

Well, if it's a lie that does harm to one's reputation, the first is libel and the second is slander.
