Always. But the problem is that some people's religious beliefs define love in ways that are contrary to compassion.

Altruism is more important than anything and if the religion's beliefs coincide with that necessity then it's a good path to follow.

Yes...loving God and loving one another is the basic foundation of God's instructions for us...religion is a product of man's attempt to put this foundation in a box, to surround it with a set of rules and laws people can follow to achieve the ultimate goal (loving God and loving one another!).

Define love?
Love without truth is sentimentality.
Truth without love is brutality.
As CS Lewis stated:
"Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained."

For me being a Christian, God is most important in my life. I told my husband that when we first met. Eventually he became a Christian also, but God is still first in both our lives. And He's who we thank for bringing us together and blessing us with over nine wonderful years of marriage.

I used to think love had no boundaries and you could love someone with a different religion but love is partially admiration and respect and usually when someone is the same religion as you you have a great deal of respect for them and that goes along with it. Maybe I'm wrong but I dunno.

Love is more important than anything in the world. God is love...and He is not bound by religion.
