I have posted a lot of questions. I never fail to get a lot of comments and saome answers. I get people telling me I am a Jesus freak. Some say I am an atheist. That gives me a clue that there are some people who do not know the difference. The fact is i do not know if there is a god or not and neither do you.

Well, you spell "atheist" correctly, so you're not a Christian.

First of all you are definitely not an atheist since you acknowledge that there might be a God. To be atheist you can't believe in anything. Atheism is the absence of belief in deities.

And I don't think you are a Jesus freak since you question whether God exists.

You are either a Christian who is questioning their faith at the time, looking for more knowledge before you come to a finale conclusion about your beliefs. Or you are agnostic and will always question, until you have an experience in your life that either brings you closer to God or makes you think that if there was a god this would have never happen to me.

Only time will tell. I encourage you to continue to seek God. Read and explore the world around you and form your own opinion.

You said that you don't know if there is a God or not. An atheist doesn't believe that there is a God period. There is a difference between not knowing and not believing. So, no, you are not an atheist and you are not a Jesus freak either. God is definitely real. Even though you can't see Him, He is there and loves you. Just like air, you can't see it either but you know it's there because you feel it (and not really in a physical touching way). It's the same with God.

Ah, but here's the rub: you ARE an atheist. This is no insult; all that is required to be an atheist is a LACK of belief, which you have. ALL agnostics (I'm guessing you'd probably choose this label, if youj had to choose one) are atheists, but not all atheists are agnostics. Some claim to be able to prove either the nonexistence of all gods, or the nonexistence of specific gods. The former, sadly, are simply a bit weak in their logic, for it is impossible to prove a universal negative, especially as undefined a term as "god." The latter do better, basing their proof on the believers own description/definition of a god. However, most atheists, just like you, simply state that we don't believe a god exists because there is no evidence to support the belief, and though no one can know for certain, it seems foolish to worship or believe in anything without adequate evidence of its existence.

I must admit that sometimes I'm not sure where certain people stand because of the way they post their questions and answers. But then, it doesn't matter that much to me anyway!

just because you don't know whether there is a God does NOT make you a atheist. You didn't say you didn't believe in him or you do. Nobody really knows if there's a God. Is it a man or a woman? If he/she is real then why is there so much pain here on earth? Why let innocent people die everyday? Why is there killers? Rapist? Molesters? Perverts? Everyone questions themselves about God or no God? It's part of who we are. And we don't have to go to church to worship or believe in God either. We know in our hearts that he is real, but we have questions that need answers.

An athiest is a person who asserts there is no god. A person who is not sure whether or not there is a god is agnostic. And you're right--no one can prove for certain whether or not God exists. It's not difficult to present a strong case either way, but actually proving it is almost by definition impossible.

Even people who say "I know there is a God" don't truly KNOW it. They have a very good idea, and very strong beliefs, but if they were completely honest with themselves even they would have to admit they do not know for certain.

For that matter, no one can say "I know George Washington is the first president." We have a very good idea, and believe that strongly. But none of us were around to witness that, so none of us truly knows for sure.

I agree with the first comment. You're agnostic. I encourage you to visit [www.AtheistTest.com] to know for sure! Also, there is a great conversation from a professing atheist at [www.WayOfTheMaster.com], select the Intelligent Design vs. Evolution category. Choose clip about Atheism. It's pretty interesting! Also, I have one last question: Are you ready for ETERNITY? (http://www.NeedGod.com) I know that I am... and I hope that you are, too!

I'm not sure who you are, I don't remember seeing you or that you are either a christian or an atheist.

As a weak atheist, I agree that I do not know for sure that there is no God. However I consider it unlikely, and so for the time being I do not believe it.

Oh good-- a militant agnostic! "I don't know if there is a God, and neither do you!" There have been more of those who express this sentiment on here lately, probably a reaction to being called "fence sitters" all the time, as if realizing that we don't already know everything is equated to indecision. Forgive me if I've misjudged you here!

If you say that you don't know if there is a god or not, but you acknowledge the possibility then your agnostic otherwise you sound like an atheist.

You are agnostic.

But deciding what I should believe is not your place. You can assert that you do not know if there is a god or not.

I can assert that I have weighed all the evidence, and I am still not convinced. So therefore I maintain a non-belief in God. There is a difference.
