Actually Christians (including Catholics) do believe that anyone can become the voice of God. This gift of the Holy Spirit is called prophecy.
In a similar way, the Holy Spirit selects who is Pope. The Pope, successor to St. Peter, is "head of the college of bishops, the Vicar of Christ and Pastor of the universal Church on earth" but not necessarily "the voice of God."
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.

I'm a Catholic. Everything that was taught to me I use it in my life and I love it. The answer to your question is no. I don't. But I do have respect for him. I don't believe anybody is the voice of God. Some of the things the Pope has to say I don't agree with. It's just my soul, heart, and God I talk to. My parents feel the same way

Catholics do not believe that the Pope is the voice of God on Earth or any representation of God on Earth. He is simply the leader of the Catholic Church- a spokesperson if you like.

I believe that when a man is elected Pope, God helps equip him for the role. I wouldn't say he's the voice of God, but I would hope that he is better attuned to the voice of God than he ever has been in the past, so that he can properly lead the Church.

Christians. Do you seriously believe that Jesus was the son of God?
The logic follows that anyone can die at the stake, so anyone can become the 'son of God'. Do you people still believe this? this idea seems incredibly absurd to me.
Plus the historicity behind this Jesus character is hiiiighly shady. At least I know the pope exists.

Direct Greek translation, not Latin, by Erasmus and exposition by Luther indicates 'repentence' is ill defined. A change is to be had--not the constant catholc confessional to its authorities for the same sin every week.

Christianity - The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree with a talking thrown in to shake it up...
and you are worried about them just thinking the pope is the word of god?
