This year, my son will be turning 10 years old. Usually, I try and get him pretty cool stuff. Last year I got him an iPod shuffle, and he's taken really good care of it/loves is. This year, though, I've finally graduated from college and have a good paying job. What are some ideas that you have of things that I could actually get him for his birthday that would be age appropriate?

A Nintendo Wii is always a good present. We have one and it's really neat. But maybe not for his age -- but I don't know. It's your choice.
And if not that Nintendo Wii, maybe you could get him a...
Nintendo DS Lite! I got it for my eleventh birthday and love it -- but I know I wanted it when I was ten. I'm a Girl that likes this video game thing ... imagine how much a boy will like it! But be sure to get a game with it if you do get this for him. (Unless he hates Pokemon, the game Pokemon Diamond's pretty good.)

1st of all do you really think an ipod for his ninth birthday was age appropriate? 10 year olds should be outside playing,
participating in sports, and such.Try spending the money
on popwarner football;a skateboard; a bike; roller blades; skis; ice hockey skates; a tennis racket.Sports equitment is a must for a boy about to be a fifth grader.

Why don't you just make a day of it and tell him you'd like to take him shopping? Spending time with him is always a good thing and he gets to pick out something he wants.

I agree - get him something he'll remember forever! Time with you! Take him on an overnight trip or something or to a concert. Experiences are worth more than material goods!
