I believe the creation story literally because God is more powerful than we can imagine. We are trying to figure out how He did it with our feeble minds. I believe it literally because the Bible says God created the heavens and the earth in 6 twenty four hour periods. This is clear from the sun going up and coming down to signify 1 day.

I believe in the creation story but there are very good arguments to show that 'the day' in this story was not necessarily a 24 hour day as we know it now.

IF YOU ANALYTICALLY READ GENESIS CHAPTER 2 YOU WILL NOT TAKE CREATION STORY LITERALLY.
Read the chapter carefully and you will see that.
1) Man was created first.
2) Trees Second.
3) Animals third
4) Woman as last.
All this does not match the order of the first Chapter.
(If you cannot understand this please mail me on jn1717@gmail.com, I will send you the details)
So I do not take the creation order in the first chapter literally!

its a cautionary tale that was taken from ancient pre-existing creation myths from babylon and mesopotamia.
if it were all true, and meant to be taken literally then someone please answer the following:
If Adam and Eve were the only original progenitors of humankind then how could it be that when Cain was cast out for killing Abel, there were other places with people for him to meet.
The entire human race up to that moment should have been his immediate family? For the purpose of this discussion we wont emphasize the implications of incest around that whole idea.

I do not interpret the creation story. I accept it as it is written in the Bible in the book of Genesis.

i take it literally. I dont understand Christians who can believe that there is a God, that Jesus rose from the dead, that Jesus performed miracles and so on, but they dont believe that God created the world in 7 days as the bible says... Christianity takes faith... you cant pick and choose what you want to believe out of the bible...its either all inspired by God or not at all.

There is nothing to interpret for creation. God said he created it, I beleive it period. I have no reason to doubt God created everything on earth, under the earth, above the earth and under the seas. God's Word is truth enough for me.

One day at a time. I.E. Why is there a gap between day one and day two? Did you know there was? Why didn't God say "It is good." after day two.
Of course you have to open a bible and study maybe get some help understanding.
Kind of like learning science.
