I just moved into a nice two bedroom town house but it is small and has like almost no room for storage. I do have a nice size kind og mid walk in closets in each room and the down stairs has a mid size walk in for a coats. I need help with storage. Any recommendation on shoes (I have about 20 pairs), clothes no longer in season, kids storage (for a 4 year old), and my husband has a massive hat and sneaker collection any help with that.

Thank you to all. All advise will be used well.

Those vacuum storage bags are priceless! I fit my entire winter wardrobe into two XL bags that fit nicely under the bed. Also great for blankets and comforters that aren't being used at the moment.

Hanging shoe racks are great for clearing floor space - although not great for sneakers if they are used for sports or if your husband has big feet. I bought one for my fiance's shoes and they don't fit into the pockets (sz 14). I keep our out of season shoes and misc. stuff stored inside our luggage.

For your child, k-mart, target & walmart all carry cute colored plastic drawers that come in all sizes and colors. They are stackable and can blend with the decor in his/her room.

Any furniture that doubles as storage is also great - ottomans that open, pretty cedar chests, etc.

Platform beds with storage drawers underneath are great for storage issues. But if not utilize the space under the beds for flat long storage bins for your out of season clothes and shoes. Buy the single drop racks that hold 6 or 7 hangers. There are great spacesavers. If you can hang your shoes on the back of the closet door it will relieve your floor space so you could add additional storage bins with drawers there. Pack up the hat and sneaker collection until you live in a larger space. Take advantage of moving storage ottomans that double as furniture.

The hats are easily stored by a shelf over the door of most closets, a space usually unused. Use an expandable shower rod near a wall in your closet and it will hold shoes.
Those vacuum bags really do work for off-season clothes but if you don't care to use them you may be able to put 2 bars in a closet to store off-s behind this season. Table linens can be hung downstairs with pants hangers. A shoe bar in closet down for most used shoes help with keeping things tidy.

Get roller bins for underneath the beds that are clear- that way you can easily roll them out, almost like an underneath the bed drawer, and still have easy access to them but they are hidden.
