John 3:19-20

19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

This basically means that Jesus God's Word has come into the world but evil people hate him because of who he is and they will not go to him because they know that what they do is evil and they will have to accept the consequences of their actions

One of the difficulties of reading and understanding John is knowing for sure when Jesus is speaking and when John is commenting on or interpreting the teaching of Jesus. Chapter 3 is a place where it is difficult to determine where the words of Jesus in conversation with Nicodemus end and where John's comments about Jesus begin.

But taking the verses you cite as they are written, this is a commonly-expressed teaching in many religious traditions- that people who do things of which they are ashamed and/or that they know are wrong, do not want those deeds made public.

Jesus here in Spirit tells us now and eternally:

"I AM the True Light Who now Shines

and the darkness is not."

Then read Ps 1:6 and then John 12:31-32

The WAY of all sinners shall be destroyed -- and all remaining will be Lights in the Father of Lights !

Divinely Beloved, all perfected Sons of God in Jesus !

We have gotten to comfortable in are present state and have accepted the fact in our own minds that things are not going to get any better.

So we say we are gods and make light of the things that are happening around us...let us enjoy what we have and do whatever we want to make ourselves happy.

We are blinded by our own fallacies so we live in darkness. Jesus came to turn the light on in our lives and when he did it was hard because we could see ourselves as we really were evil and bad natured. We give up on God prematurely because it hurt to change. So we are contented in the old state we were in. The world says no pain no gain! Yet we did not want to retain the word of God in our life changes.

Can you see it people who reject God is the ones that are helpless in the present state, but would rather reject the very one that could change their circumstances. So they hate him because he gives free will, yet men say,God does nothing; because they do not acknowledge him in their lives or call on him. Yes your deeds will be exposed,God does reveal them to us. So you will know it takes him to change us we can not do it ourselves. He knows us each and every one of us. He knows our actions and thoughts and all of our ways. It is because you are happy in your sins and do not want to change. The gay brother or sister, the theif and the whore. The polygamist, the child abuser, the lier and the false prophets.Racists! God does leave us to do just what we have free will to do. Hate.

A leopard can't change his spots, neither can men change from their evil ways. One must be borne again and become a new creation in Christ the Light of the world.

Christianity is concerned with the life, work and teaching of Jesus Christ. Yet we cannot possibly appreciate what he accomplished unless we understand what the Bible means by its use of the words Devil and Satan.
