When is hurrican season over?

I am planning a wedding and I cant decide when to have it. I originally wanted it in May but I was thinking twice about that and I think the fall would be prettier but the only problem is my fiance and I want to go on a cruise for our honeymoon..either to Eastern or Southern Carribean because we went to western before. I am affraid if we have it in the fall a hurricane will come..when is hurricane season over and when do you think we should have it?

Hurricane season in the Atlantic is from June 1 until November 30. This accounts for about 97% of hurricanes.

On a personal note, I have traveled on cruises and other vacations to the Caribbean many, many times during October and November and never hit a hurricane...until Oct. '06 (Hurricane Wilma). Our cruise ship sailed right through the hurricane and it was crazy for one evening/night with tons of rain, wind, and rough water...but the rest of the cruise was fine. I was not scared at all, and I looked at it as a once in a lifetime experience. As I said before, the rest of the cruise was great, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Also note that the most southern Caribbean islands are not in the heavy hurricane zone.

Hurricane season runs from the first of June to the end of November. Half the year. But remember that, in general, it is pretty mild at the very beginning and the very end of the season. And if you're planning a vacation during the season, check into a hurricane garauntee which will allow you to reschedule at no additional cost if a hurrican does disrupt your vacation.

I think it's November 30, but it might be October 31.

So much for a Fall Wedding, but if you are on a tropical cruise you won't see the Fall leaves anyhow, so why not go in May.
