hehe

I'm not telling. ;-)

edit: Actually I'm not too bothered about most of the misconceptions in that I often get a good laugh from the fear and hysteria. I became a Satanist back in the 80’s shortly before all the SRA (Satanic ritual abuse) nonsense became popular. I giggled a great deal about all that.

But here is a short list:

We’re not after your kids. I don’t care if anyone becomes a Satanist. If it will work for a person they’ll find it or some other atheistic philosophy.

We don’t worship a devil. We don’t even believe in god or a devil.

Here are the 11 rules we live by.

I
Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
II
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure that they want to hear them.
III
When in another's lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
IV
If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
V
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
VI
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the person and he cries out to be relieved.
VII
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have used it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
VIII
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
IX
Do not harm little children.
X
Do not kill non-human animals unless attacked or for your food.
XI
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

I'm not a Satanist, but I know that when I was younger I was always given a negative stereotype by my religious peers.

Among other things, I was led to believe that Satanists were antisocial, unintelligent drug abusers who worshipped the Devil. However, once I got to know a few of them, I realized that in general they're probably some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. I consider many of them to be extraordinarily enlightened and honest about the nature of humanity when so many religions are downright misanthropic.

The Church of Satan is the only recognized religion in the United States that voluntarily rejects the tax exempt status. They lead by example. Churches are businesses and should pay taxes just like all other businesses do.

I do not worship Satan! I do believe that we were in spirit before we were born of this Earth and that we return to Spirit after this body dies. I believe that if one were to study the Bible it tell us time and time again that they had these same thoughts and beliefs when the Bible was written, Jesus himself even spoke of it.

That we do not believe in Satan as a literal figure, but rather a representation of all that makes us human. We also have strict laws against harming children, as well as strict laws against harming non-human animals unless it is in self-defense or for food, so...sorry christians, but we don't do sacrifices to non-existant gods.

Back when I was a Satanist the big ones for me were that we did not actually worship Satan, but an even bigger one was that we did not condone rape, animal torture, pedophilia, or gang violence.

Satanism is not about spooks, goblins, vampires, Halloween monsters or other related entities.

Satanism is not about "evil."

Satanism is not a "reaction" to Christianity.

Satanism is not about death.
