So me and the doc are a bit confused (confused not worried) and Im thinking maybe you guys can help. The first date of my last period was on April 27 of this year... which would put my baby now at 16 weeks and 5 days. 2 months ago the doc did some measurements and the baby would now be measuring at 16 weeks and 2 days. Well, yesterday doc did a measurement of the babies head and its now meauring at 17 weeks... how in the world is that possible when the first day of my last period was April 27th (there is NO questions that was the day)... doc said he isnt going to worry because in 2 weeks I go back for full ultrasound and he is going to measure every inch of my baby. Any ideas?

not every baby grows at an exact measured rate.. the best guess is just that a best guess. even if you know date of conception....
i did for both pregnancys.... and delivered both at 38 wks not the regular 40 wks.. it was my body that knew when the time was.. they are all healthy wight at birth..
and every ultrasound they would give approxamite size and wight.. heheheh, and then they end up bigger or smaller..

dont worry, if everthing else is developing normally then its ok...

Hi there; no worries, it sounds to me as if the MD was doing these "measurements" using ultrasound? If so, an ultrasound measurements at any given time will tell you a baby's size +/- 5 dyas so either way it sounds like you are on target. My son was born 3 weeks early but my last menstral period was April 29 th ( last year) so that would (I am guessing) put you as being due around ( I say that loosely) the last week of January as my due date was Feb. 2nd. So 16 weeks 2 days or 17 weeks sounds right on target with the window that ultrasound measurements allow.

I wouldn't worry to much about the days - it's the weeks you need to watch. If your 17 weeks pregnant and your baby measures at 13 weeks be worried. A fetus' age is calculated by the head circumfrence, abdominal circum., and length of the thigh bone. As long as all of those stay relatively close together your doing fine. Good Luck!

I would just wait for the ultrasound. It will give you the most accurate due date. Dating the pregnancy by your last period assumes that you ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period. If you ovulated earlier than 14 day then your due date will be off. If your doctor isn't worried, then you should try not to worry either.

maybe you are going to have a big baby.....I had something somewhat similair....I had my ultra sound at what they thought was18 weeks, only to do measurements of the baby and conclude that I was only 16 weeks along. Every ultra sound from then on said I was due Sept 3, not August 20. So my estimated due date is Sept 3.And here it is August 21, and no baby, so maybe they were right!
