Most people's normal walk rate is between 2-3mph. So say 2.5mph

1.24mile/2.5mph = .496hrs (or about 1/2 an hour) = 30 minutes.

A person in good physical condition, brisk walk, maybe does 4 miles an hour. I imagine soldiers go faster, joggers go faster. If we are just moseying along, window shopping, we may make no progress at all.

The speed is not a standard.

I live in a community with no side walks, except immediately around residential, and store clusters, so to get from one cluster to another, there is grass with like pot holes, that if I do not watch my feet making firm landing, they can slide through the grass into a hidden hole ... I can't walk on the street because of heavy traffic ... so this means I am tiptoeing slower than I would prefer to walk.

Everyone has different situations based on conditions of where we walk, what kind of physical condition we are in, what distractions we might have.
