As many Christians have been involved in the invention, production, deployment and use of nuclear weapons, would their use be acceptable for the efficient conversion or destruction of other faiths, and non-believers, in non Christian countries?

Would the Christian God approve?

I suspect I'm on a hiding to nothing by providing you with a Christian response, but here goes anyway...

Christian warfare is SPIRITUAL. This is what Ephesians 6: 10-18 has to say on the subject:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with

the belt of truth
the breastplate of righteousness
feet shod with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace
the shield of faith (to extinguish the arrows of the evil one)
the helmet of salvation
the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God
and pray in the Spirit, on all occasions.

Christian Soldiers, and Christian Warfare is a METAPHOR.

Absolutely not! True Christians are called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world. Conversion is the choice of the hearer. I contend that compulsory conversion is NOT legitimate. You may force someone to act a certain way, but outward actions often does not reflect inward convictions. Mankind looks on OUTWARD appearance, and Almighty God gives much attention to a person's heart in judging their actions. Currently in America, there is a movement to suppress the Gospel/Teachings of Jesus Christ and the moral standards of the Holy Bible from the public arena. The Devil knows that the POWER is in PROCLAMATION! If a person has NEVER heard the Gospel/Biblical Truths, then how can they respond and make an informed decision? So, absolutely, positively NO to violence/destruction-based conversions. Every person must CHOOSE Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior... and produce fruits of obedience as EVIDENCE of their true conversion. Lastly, I have a question: Are you ready for ETERNITY? (http://www.NeedGod.com) I know that I am... and I hope that you are, too! [(\o/)(XP)]

Well didn't God or someone other mythical character from the best selling piece of fiction say, "eye for an eye"? Soon the whole world will be blind, as Ghandi would put it!

I am sure a bible dropped from a B-52 would kill pretty well. If you carpet bombed bibles, you would get a good indiscriminate WMD

it all depends on what you believe. i happen to believe that war is a good thing as long as the people believe it to be nessisary. war solved fascism, Naziism, and Monarchism, and i believe that war was the better choice than all of the above because it was the lesser of the evil they were fighting against.

however, some believe that no killing is justified. Jesus healed his enemies when they came to take him away, Jesus preached and healed people of different religions and races. God Still loves the people who dont believe in him. and if we try to force people to believe, then it will just turn into another failed crusade, or another stupid inquisition.

In the Bible God actively encourages Christians to `take up arms` and kill the non-believers. I think this is wrong, and it contradicts everything else that he teaches. There is not one rule for Christians and another for other faiths. Killing is never justified.

The sword of truth.

-----------

Social Science Lady - what verse are you quoting? My translation says: "And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)

I believe this verse was hypocritically ecthed on the United Nations wall.

I don't think so. God wants us to love. These are sad mistakes that we have done in the past.

And if you ask my own personal weapon of choice, i use the holy spirit.

God bless.
