A bigger bait + slightly larger hooks......... a few "water craft" skills (using your observation skills to look for places where the big ones might be)........ a finally, some flukish good luck... not to mention being patient "playing it in" properly if you want to land it once hooked.
.
But catching bigger fish generally requires time & patience...... some anglers who only specialise in going after only big fish go months, or even years without catching a big 'un (or any other fish for that matter).

The same thing you use to
1) Meet a kind, honest, beautiful, faithful virgin who will sleep with you on the first date
or
2) Pick a stock guaranteed to double overnight
or
3) Lose two pounds a week while eating all the foods you love, without having to exercise
or
4) Land a big recording contract and a coast-to-coast tour without having to bother with singing lessons or practice sessions
How? Easy; turn over, go back to sleep and hope the dream comes back.
Good LORD! Do you think that maybe, just maybe, if there was a sure-fire way to pull an 18-inch trout out of the creek every time you wet your line, that someone might have discovered it, bottled it and made a fortune?

Fish off ocean wrecks. Big fish hang out there to eat little fish.

well my favorite thing to do is go to creeks or rivers that flow into a lake and get a small holed dipnet and check the waters for differant critters that you can use for bait. like crawfish
