Recent research indicates that the happiest people are religious and spend great amounts of "family time" together. Irregardless of all the arguments for or against proof of the existance of God, doesn't this prove that God is "good for us"?

I was a high profile software person with huge salaries and hardly any time for God.

But while things went haywire nothing could help. I quit job and spent time with my wife and kids, most of the time studying the Word.

It has changed our life for good! It can make a qualitative difference anyone's life.

Sitting together and spending quality time together and then knowing God better!

I have seen it happening everywhere!

At the same time I have seen atheist's and skeptics families loosing orientation and losing out!

Jesus us rightly said: when 2 or 3 are assembled in my name I will be there in the midst of them.

Let Lord add his blessings.

Jesus Loves You, So do I

I quite have widely used for years that modern-day human beings at the instant are not descended from Neanderthals, yet i did not understand that the diversities have been so super as to call them a separate species. it quite is taken into consideration necessary word that evolution isn't a ladder with human beings on the precise. The lineage preferable to human beings branched many circumstances, with separate branches of the tree of existence preferable to different organisms. you will have an interest in examining Richard Dawkins' e book The Ancestor's tale.

I guess it depends on whether think its more important to believe what makes you happy or believe what is most likely to be true. I also think it may not be the religion but the quality time with family that makes people happy. Most people are happy when they feel loved by at least a few people.

Personally, when I was a religious kid, all religion led to a lot of confusion and far more questions than answers. I guess God would be good for some people, but not for me. Maybe I'm an overthinker or have a mild case of OCD, but I need my beliefs to make logical sense for me to be comfortable with them.

i'm sure a bunch of people on here will try to come up with some scientific reasoning for this, because they don't understand any better. but you are right, god makes all things better, the family that prays together stays together. it really seems like some people depend on a scientific explanation for every single thing in life, almost like they worship science. who do they think invented science. god created everything and made it work the way it does, thats science, they need to wake up and see that. without god, then science doesn't exist.

Then I guess I must be living a lie, I have a happy family and we aren't religious buffs. I am sorry but I don't buy it.

Yes, even non believers see that religions do great things for people. They do make people happier and healthier.

Personally, I've never needed any proof. However, from what I've heard from those who do need it, this isn't enough. I think they need the pain and difficulty of life to kick them hard enough for them to turn to God and accept His love.

Blessed Be

Assuming that you just forgot to post your source(s) and that they are validated, I'll nominally accept it as being somewhat accurate. However, did the study also take into account religious people who didn't spend time with family or nonreligious people who do? Did it differentiate between religions? I'd be interested also in reviewing just how they determined "happiness".

While there are many good teachings in various religions, there is something about needing an imaginary being in order to be good, that really bothers me.
