I don't want a bunch of PETA bandwagoneers on my case for this one, just read the question and think about it!! Please.
Our laws are pretty messed up. We have a referee looking at up to 25 years for game fixing. Fixing a freaking basketball game/games!! A GAME. When murderers, Child molesters, repeat drunk drivers, theaves, robbers, etc. get a lot less than that?
Yes, I'm going to mention Michael Vick! He is looking at up to 5 years. He will serve time in prison whether it be 1 year or 3 years, for conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiracy to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. Huh? Are you freaking serious!? Let's not talk about the "illegal acts" our own government is doing as we speak! Give me a break, when is our judicial system really going to start working?
The system has never nor will it ever be fair. Politicians, Judges and our Lawmakers live by two sets of rules. The dividing line is measured in dollars.

Okay I understand that the referee isn't going to get 25 years and Michael Vick isn't going to get 5 years, but it's the point. Everyone is trying to justify the corruption going on in our Government! I don't get it!?

When the media report possible sentences they always say it in terms of the MAXIMUM possible penalty someone COULD get for the offense. This frequently includes additional time for aggravating circumstances. Although technically correct that someone "is facing UP TO 25 years" the likelihood of their getting anything even close to that is nil. The system does attempt to inject parity and equity into itself. If you take a look at actual outcomes rather than potential scenarios, while not perfect, things appear better.

Why do you care? Vick is an overrated QB anyways, a glorified Running Back at best. He killed dogs, not by accident, but premeditated and torturous. Hanging them and if they survived submerging thier heads under water to drown them. It's not the laws that are meesed up, it's the punishment. However, you have to keep in mind the media jumps all over a celebrity in trouble and never shows the good that is done against the murderers, child molesters, Drunk drivers, thieves, robbers, etc. Michael Vick deserves prison time, but what will really punish him is he should be banned from the NFL. If Pete Rose was banned from MLB for what he did, there should be no hesitation in signing the order against Vick. Also, the government is doing nothing illegal, they are protecting your freedoms, one of them you just used, Freedom of speech.

I am not a member of PETA nor a crazy tree hugger. But I will say this: Mike Vick deserves EVERYTHING that is coming to him. To harm and kill INNOCENT animals is very cowardly. To make things worst, he was looked up to by young children, teenagers and adults and for him to go and do something like this. I hope they throw the book at him. He should have to do time, pay a hefty fine, and donate about $10 million to the Humane Society.
