There is something definately wrong with me. I ache in my bowel area constantly and it has gotten worse recently. I have no insurance and no prospects of insurance until October. I don't think I can wait that long though.

you can apply for state aid. This will usually cover a person having surgery who does not have financial means.

you may not need surgery, it's possible you have irritable bowel syndrome and it will cause an aching in the intestinal area. You may want to just have an examination with a doctor to find out what is wrong with you.

It would help if you gave more info e.g.-how old are you, have kids, approx income, approx where you live. You need to be examined by a dr first to determine what is wrong. Look in the phone book for a public health clinic. You may have a wait, but they base fees on a sliding scale. Also, you say you are getting insurance in Oct. This may be a pre-existing condition (depending on how your new insurance defines it) so even though you will have the coverage, they may not cover it.

Before you even start talking about surgery, see a doctor. You may have any number of conditions that can be treated without surgery. If you go to an emergency room, the HAVE to see you, even without insurance. Yes, you have to pay them back, but you can do it over time. Also, some cities have free clinics, or there are doctors who charge lower fees for people with lower incomes.

You can apply for state-aid and if you do require an operation or some type of procedure that you can't afford many hospitals and doctors are willing to give you some type of discount so that it isn't as costly. My doctor and hospital when I had to have 2 $60,000 surgeries were willing to try to cut their costs as much as possible since our insurance suddenly decided that they weren't going to cover my medical care, and we did not qualify for state-aid in paying for the surgeries, but the little discount that they were able to give us made it possible so that they could afford the surgeries for me.
