You can also ship it to yourself.
(B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms
interstate for his or her use in
hunting or other lawful activity?
Yes. A person may ship a firearm
to himself or herself in care of another
person in the State where he or she
intends to hunt or engage in any other
lawful activity. The package should
be addressed to the owner. Persons
other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of
the firearm.

To ship firearms legally, you can ship United Parcel Service, but you need to find a licensed Firearms Dealer who will ship the gun from his location to another licensed Dealer that will accept the shipment for whomever you are shipping it to. The Dealers will charge a nominal fee for this service. FedEx will also do it Overnight in some cases but the dealers involvement is still required.
Shippers want the gun properly boxed and insured, and the person shipping is not to write anything on the outside of the box to indicate there is a firearm inside. You will also need to have a photocopy of the "receiving Dealers FFL license" at the time you drop it at the shipping Dealers location for shipment.
Ammunition can be shipped by anyone without an FFL Dealer but it can only be shipped by UPS, and depending on what state you live in there may be additional shipping charge for hazardous materials shipping added to the shipping cost by UPS.
Once it arrives at the receiving Dealers location, your recipient just goes to the Dealer and picks it up.

If you are shipping to an FFL-holder, and have a copy of their license, you actually can use the US Postal Service. At least you could until 3 years ago.
And unless the rules have changed, if you ship a gun to the factory or a gunsmith for repair, they can ship the gun directly back to you, without going through an FFL.

The maximum secure thank you to try this could be to bypass by way of authorized gun sellers at each end of the approach. (that's in all likelihood greater intense in California than in Texas.) whether you have been to deliver the firearm in products, some element of it would in all likelihood meet the technical definition of a 'gun' and delivery that area of it ought to get you into difficulty. because interstate shipments fall decrease than federal regulation, you won't be able to anticipate the two state's regulations to prepare completely.

laws differ from state to state. in my state if someone sends me a pistol, it has to be shipped to a gun dealer in my state and i pick it up from him. if i buy a rifle out of state i can legally bring it across the state line myself.
