evil is only evil in comparison to good, since God is that ultimate good, it seems unlikely evil would exist with out him
although it is an interesting logical exercise,

I would know because I know right from wrong. It is quite simple actually. :-) God doesn't control my thought process, I do...
(Sorry that some of my fellow Christians obviously didn't read the whole question... they forgot to read the "This is hypothetical." part. Some are just not capable of engaging in a "hypothetical" conversation. Either that or they don't know what "hypothetical" means... I'll probably get some thumbs-down for this one but hey... what can I do about it...you know?...)

Wait what do you mean "if"??? The way I read the Bible it's pretty apparent that he/she is well on the way to being evil or at the best a very poor parenting example.
For example, why say that you created the world and then planted massive amounts of evidence that it evolved? Or why tell your chosen patriarch that he must sacrifice his son and wait to the last minute to stop him -- what kind of loving parent would ask their grown child to kill their children?? What about this chosen race stuff and randomly destroying some nations while allowing others the chance to repent, while other civilizations come and go without out a clue to the "truth"?
If I read the bible without "belief blinders" on it presents a very poor example of a loving god.
Edit:
One last example: Why would any sentient being voluntarily design a system of free choice for their children where if they obeyed they had life but disobedience resulted in eternal suffering -- would you do that to your kids?
And... if we can conceive of alternatives to the above and recognize it as a really bad thing to do to your loved children, why can't god?

For that HE has to switch role with the Devil. What do you think,Devil shall do in that case?Act like God and generate support for him amongst the believers? Quite Possible.Being the 'all knowing',do you think the God would like to take the risk of turning evil?why not?

If God were to hypothetically turn evil we all would know. The censors would allow porn on everything including childrens programming, he would destroy law enforcement so everyone would be living in a do as you please world. Positive attitudes would be gone, you would not find a pleasant person in this world, crime would skyrocket 5,000%. You would just know if God went evil. Hypothetically speaking.
Biblically, during the tribulation God will get very nasty to people who did not and will not choose him. God will send new plagues as a punishment to people that did not choose him. The worst will be when god makes unbelievers suffer horribly and they cannot kill thmselves to destroy the pain.
People have had plenty of time to choose him.

The core character quality of God is holiness- separate and set apart from sin. Can a leopard change its spots?

He cannot turn evil:
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Malachi 3:6
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Peace be with you

Satan is the big questioner . He loves to drive people's mind with doubt. The only way you could ever understand the love of our Lord is by receiving Him as your Lord and Savior. Once you do this all your doubt is gone. Good Luck in your search and I pray that you will find the Truth who will end all doubt

It could happen but I doubt it. The closest thing to that that I think could happen is that He stops caring. But if He did, we'd all be dead or freakishly screwed.

The fact of the matter is: even if he turned evil, Christians would probably continue to laud their "ever-loving God" and how all his evil-ness is really just a test of faith or something..
