I keep seeing them post it's because they care. If they saw someone in a fire wouldn't they save you? Guess what, if I chose to be in said fire, you don't get a say. I am an adult. I don't need anything "for my own good." I'm smart enough to figure it out all by my little lonesome. Do how is that people think people who aren't Christian are so stupid that we need others to tell us what we should and should not be doing?

I'm saying they don't care. I know some that truly think they have my best interests at heart...but I'm still an adult. I still get to make the call with out harrassment.

Excellent point.
As consenting adults, we are entitled to do precisely whatever we want, so long as it is lawful and doesn't harm others.
I think it's because they have been treated like children their whole lives, being told cautionary fairy tales, that they figure it's the correct way to treat others.

Most of them don't think we're stupid--until they get the same answer two or three times in a row.
Most of them think that we've been somehow blinded, that our minds are closed to the truth that they've experienced (or have been told they've experienced, anyway.) They believe that we really don't know that the fire will burn us and will discover this fact too late.
What they don't realize is that where they see a fire, we see only light. The flames are an illusion of their own fears, an illusion that we see through because we all, at one point in our lives, had the nerve and the faith to grit our teeth and step into the fire. We penetrated the illusion, and came one step closer to the truth that we are searching for.

Sounds like you're determined to do your own will even to your own destruction. If you really want to stand in said fire, wait'l you experience the Lake of Fire. You'll change your mind then but at that point no Christian will be able to help you. Not even the God you've denied.
I know ... I sound harsh and mean spirited and all that other claptrap. But the truth is I do care about you. I'm just a little frustrated that you don't get it.

Depends on how it's done. Informing me once, even unsolicited, I can handle. It's the incessant follow-up that puts me off.
I have met people who honestly thought I never became Christian b/c I never touched the bible or attended church, refused to believe me when I said I have read the bible and have attended church. I've had Christians see me as a challenge - I'm easy going and can listen to someone's schpiel without rancor, yet still walk away an "unbeliever". They are genuinely baffled, and accuse me of egotism or stubborness when I won't make that leap of faith. I've had very patronizing Christians sorrowfully tell me I don't know any better due to being an immigrant (even though I am American), or due to my parents having not reared me correctly.
I don't necessarily believe it's Christianity that enables people to make assumptions. I believe it's the individual personality. After all, I've had "godless" people hound me to adopt for myself their own (non-religious) opinions.

Matthew 6:5-6
Jesus said:
“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
So Jesus was saying certain Christians should STFU in so many words.

From the way you write (only this question, since your questions and answers are kept private), I don't think you're stupid. But I do think you've been lied to by a very skilled liar. Satan. You see, for him to win he needn't get you to worship him, he only needs to get you to not accept Jesus.
You are not stupid, and you are capable of doing the research to answer your question of WHY people evangelize. Read the bible to see just what it is that we Christians believe - even though you don't believe it, you'll get an understanding of why we evangelize.

Not stupid, just blinded, you are a perfect example. Just keep in mind this one verse. "The just shall live by faith, all mockers and unbelievers shall have their part in the lake of fire, You would not believe the truth, many times my people were sent to you to show you the way , but you refused the Gospel." You have made your choice, now you will live and die by it.

They are still stuck in the dark ages and don't realize that there has been a mass public education program going on for some time - for free and without cost.

No, they do it out of insecurity. The Jews never accepted Jesus so they must convince everyone else of the "truth" in order to bolster their belief. The majority is always right, is it not?

Yes, I do think they really care. They are made to care. Religion thrives because of its ability to stir emotions in people. Part of this is the fear mongering it uses in its depiction of death. Either you are getting a big reward by following the strict tenets of the religion or you are cut off forever, or even tortured for eternity.
With such fear mongering, I'm sure that many people become panicked and fearful when they see someone else, especially a loved one, who doesn't buy into their superstition. I can see how they might become obsessed with saving people from an eternal punishment.
This kind of stress and degeneracy is yet another way that religion harms society.
