Quentin Tarantino had kind of a similar theory about the band "The Who" -- that nobody actually LIKES their music, but everybody thinks they're SUPPOSED to, so they all say they like them....

I suppose it's possible but easily identifiable. The experiences you speak of are so life changing the ramifications are profound and lasting. I've had some pretty intense God experiences but when I read the stories of D.L Moody or the Wesley brothers or any of the other great evangelists of the 18th and 19th centuries, I realize my experiences have been barely blip on the radar screen in comparison. When God affects someone it's pretty intense.

I truly have had personal experiences with the Living God, that have been so amazing they cannot be describe my human thought. However that does not mean that i have these times every day. Sometimes people may "fake" that they have encountered God , just to fit in- however the one who knows is God. Jesus said, "That my sheep hear and know my voice" so it should not be unusual to hear from God, if you are open to it. I am not saying that hear everything He says, and i think that is the difference. Hearing is our responsibility- and if we say that we hear, just to fit in then they are missing out on the joy of REALLY hearing from Him.

The bible says that there is coming a time when the true believers will worship in spirit. Our human spirit is the key for contacting our Lord. It is within our spirit that Jesus lives. Therefore we should never come to the Word of God without first contacting our spirit. We need to ask for the Lord to wash us from our sin by His precious blood every day and call on His name in order to aliven our spirits first then you will truly experience Christ Himself in your life

I believe there are many Christians, maybe a majority, who have not had a personal interaction with their deity.
They are the ones who think WORDS are enough to change faith over.

I don't believe that any of them had 'direct contact'. It is all a delusion. That doesn't mean that prayer is not helpful to the individual because it is. To me it was meditation.

I have not spoken to God in a conversation, but I do know he sends me messages and signs.
