Quietly pull her aside and tell her that you don't appreciate her immaturity in the workplace. Ask her why (unless you already know) she feels that she has to cut you down or cause trouble. You may not get a straight answer but at least she's going to know that she won't get the best of you. Do not raise your voice, nor get upset with her. Tell her this in a calm tone while looking her dead in the eye. This is unnerving to some people. Inform her that you will speak to your boss if there is one more incident. While it may feel good to trip her in the bathroom or put ex-lax in her food, this approach is better. Drama in the workplace, no matter who is at fault, is looked upon unfavorably by any higher-up. If this doesn't help, then go to your boss and inform him/her that this has been an issue. Best of luck.

I wouldn't say a WORD to her. She will be angrier if she knows she is not getting a reaction out of you. Just act like all is great and wonderful! If you show her that she is getting under your skin...she wins. I would however clear things up with your boss.

I would speak to the boss privately and try to clear things up with him/her. That way, those in authority will know the truth and will recognize the girl who is spreading rumors is a troublemaker.

best way to deal with people like her would be to confront her directly and in front of other people. Just ask her why she did what she did, she will deny it but that doesn't matter. I would just ask her and then walk away and dont give her any reaction when she lies.

You ignore people like this. They want attention, so don't give it.

If your boss mentions it, just laugh and say "I think we can both agree that [annoying coworker's name] is not the most reliable source of information."
