...tells about the story of Jesus as he was growing up.

Like when he was a kid and a teenager etc...

I would just like to know.

Or did the New Testament only start when Jesus started preaching?

Very little was mentioned about him when he was young. A verse does mention about his parents taking him to a doctor and the doctors were impressed about his knowledge.
I still don't know why people worries so much about Jesus, because he was actually the father, not the actual son.
He must had been the greatest actor to ever walked the earth. because he really did a fantastic job at causing people to falsely believe he was actually God's son. Then again, someone said that I must be an even greater actor than even Jesus.
The bible warns that the human body is only a suit, never the actual person, and can never enter heaven.
The bible says the disciples saw him rise up to the clouds. Doesn't say they saw him enter heaven.
The bible clearly says that no angel or man will know when God's son will be born and living on the earth for the first thirty-something years. Only God will know until then.
No man or angel will know he's living on the earth for the first thirty-something years. People reads the stories about Jesus in the bible and the teachings that people have been brought up to believe, yet they don't add up.
3 wise men, angels, parents, etc knew who Jesus was. They even knew in advance when he was going to be born on the earth.
I must be the only man on the earth who understands how to read the bible, because everyone else understandings of the bible doesn't make sense.

The childhood of Jesus is told in Matthew 1 and Luke chapters 1 and 2. For his "teen" years, see Luke 2, starting at verse 41.

However note that only one event is recorded from his "teen" years, that of a trip to Jerusalem at the age f 12. It is important because normally at the age of 12 a son would decide what "apprenticeship" he wanted to enter to learn his life's work. Jesus shows his life's work will be preaching the Word of God by his actions in that event.

Other then that, the rest of his life between birth and the age of 30 (adulthood) are covered by the simple statement that he grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.

Luke 2:41 - 51 is about Jesus as a 12 year old visiting the temple and amazing people with his wisdom.

There is not much detail of Jesus life as a kid and teenager. There is the one story of him in the Temple talking to the Scribes there. I think he was about 12 or so. I'd check the gospels, like Mattew or Luke, both seem to have more in depth of Jesus' life.

Matthew chap 1-2
Luke 1-2, esp Luke 2 v 41-52

these chaps give the only real detail bout Jesus' childhood, but that's because the guys that wrote them only knew about Jesus later on in life...when he was an adult.

Luke chapter 2 tells of the time from his birth some of his infancy; then beginning in verse 41 you can read about something that happened when he was 12 years old. After that, nothing is recorded until he begins his ministry at the age of 30.

Only the Gospel of Luke has a story about his childhood.

Since the gospel writers (his disciples) met him as an adult, they didn't write much about his childhood, since they had little firsthand knowledge about it.

Besides, you have to realize that a "Gospel" is a form of literature akin to the modern historical commentary, or opinion columns in the newspaper. It was written to make a point, not just to recite dry facts like an encyclopedia, so any irrelevant details were deliberately omitted.

to get the story of what Jesus was like as a kid, you need to go to the apocryphal books, especially the infancy gospels. Jesus was a real brat, he pushed a playmate off the roof and killed him, he killed another kid for bumping into him, he beat a teacher to death, he let his mom worry for 3 days without telling her where he was going, they kept these books out of the bible because they didn't like the whole truth being told. they wanted to paint him as perfect from the beginning

you people can give me all the thumbs down you want, I didn't write these books, and it just proves the truth, nobody wants to hear that Jesus was anything but a saint. He was a brat, period.

The only time mentioned about His rearing was when He was 13, at the Temple teaching. His parents couldn't find Him because He was 'about His Father's work.'

Some deity before Jesus had the exact chunk of life missing from his life, too, but memory doesn't serve. I think it was Horus, but I could be mistaken. Anyway, the Bible just plagiarized his story and that came with it.
