Don't ask them. Wrong approach.
If they have a ring on, or some other item that cries out that they are in a relationship, then respect that. Leave them to their happy relationship.
If you don't see a sign that they are in a relationship and you think you might be interested, talk to them. Once you get to know the basics about them, if you still haven't received input that she might be in a relationship, if you're still interested, and if she seems interested, ask if she would like to [put fun and interesting activity here].
She can either say yes, and go with you. Or say no, and not go with you. One way of saying no is to say she's in a relationship. If you've been flirting properly up to this point, she should have let you know by then, though, during the conversation.
If you're not going to talk to them, then there's no reason to know if they're single or not!
