I hear every day from various people about how unhappy they are with jobs, family, friends, weight issues etc..
Was just wondering if there are people who are happy just being themselves.
I have a great husband and daughter, none of us are sick, not rich, and I carry a bit of exytra weight, but I can say I am happy with my life...

No, I think that people who say they are truly happy that they are alive are just fooling themselves. Given the choice between never being born and having life, any life, I'd choose not being born each and every time. Unfortunately, I was born and I do my best to accept it although it's really rather tiring and I'll be thankful when it is over. I wouldn't say I'm depressed or even suicidal, although I have been both, but I'm certainly not happy that my parents chose to be selfish and procreate.

Although, I don't have a lot of complaints about the state of my life, but it's life, so it sucks by default. I do have a wonderful relationship with my fiance, a cat, I travel and experience life for what it has to offer, these are all good things and good distractions, but happy? It's a fleeting emotion. I get more hyper and eurphoric than happy.

It can vary from day to day minute to minute how happy you feel can't it?.There is a difference between being truly happy and truly miserable and depressed. Circumstances can change how happy you feel can't they and some things take ages to get over. For example I feel unhappy that I can't eat sweets without putting weight on but overall this doesn't effect my level of happiness. Its all relative. Happiness as Ken Dodd said is the greatest gift you can possess. BE HAPPY!!

I actually clapped after reading your question
Yes I am happy, great Kids, Lovely wife, hopefully most of a decent healthy life in front of me and looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.
No , I'm not a religious nut , on drugs or recently came into anything that can be described as money, I just think that Life is a One Time Deal as far as we can tell, and we should make the most of it ..anything else is just a stupid waste of time and life.

I am a widow with a six year old. I have come along way in four years of being by myself. I have grown spiritually and emotionally. I know who I am and what I want out of life. I am happy with my life. Sometimes, though it does not seem to be enough without a husband. I would like to get remarried but it is not what I am living for. I have my daughter, my job, my house but my daughter, my friends, and God is what keeps me going. My job and my house can be lost but I will have my support system. Support system to me is what has helped me get this far. Good Luck To You!

Happiness is an emotional or affective state that is characterized by feelings of enjoyment, pleasure, and satisfaction. As a state and a subject, it has been pursued and commented on extensively throughout world history. This reflects the universal importance that humans place on happiness.

States associated with happiness include well-being, delight, health, safety, contentment, and love. Contrasting states include suffering, depression, grief, anxiety, and pain. Happiness is often associated with the presence of favorable circumstances such as a supportive family life, a loving marriage, and economic stability. Unfavorable circumstances, such as abusive relationships, accidents, loss of employment, and conflicts, diminish the amount of happiness a person experiences. However, according to several ancient and modern thinkers, happiness is influenced by the attitude and perspective taken on such circumstances.

I am... I love my life today and everyday... but I haven't always felt this way... A year ago I attempted to leave this earth for the 4th time... The first time I ever allowed anyone to see... And I really attempted... But it was not the end of my life... It was the beginning... I am happy today with myself, my family, my friends, my job, my body, my health, and my future... I know who I am, what I want, and how I plan to get there... There are always of course a few stressors that may get in my way, but they are only short lived before I straighten them out...

Happines is all tied in with expectaions.

An example of this was " Tarzan" who was a healthy, happy chap raised by apes in a nice jungle.
The apes had imposed no expectations on Tarzan.
He did his own thing and was boss of the forrest. He was truely happy. Then Jane arrived.

happiness is not found outside oneself. No matter what life throws at me, I can say I am happy. I found that place inside myself that is the source of all happiness, and was amazed at how easy it was to find once I was taught how to find it. If you or anyone is unable to find this happiness the following website might give you some insight, it certainly did for me.

it costs nothing and you may gain from the research.
