why do they have to answer about 80 questions to see if they are "qualified"? The Bible doesn't require that of anyone..ones dedication to God should be between them and God..Can you give examples of what questions are asked?

because the dedication is a serious one and they ask these questions about bible standards to see if you agree with them and you understand what your dedication is to. the questions are not pass or fail. Its to see how serious you are.

One example is if you understand that premarital sex is wrong scripturally, the abuse of drugs, understanding the headship of the family, feelings on lieing or stealing, what God's special qualities are. I don't have the book at work with me, but its just so you understand Bible standards.

Edit: And just think of Catholics. Before they are aloud to marry in the church, they are both asked to go through series of questions to make sure they both understand the seriousness of marriage, and that if they don't agree with something, they should rethink things or give it more time.

It is true that being dedicated to God is simple matter, however, as we become ministers when baptized and as such should clearly have a basic knowledge of the Bible before we go around claiming to do so, there are simple questions asked. Example who is Jesus, how does the Bible view sex, etc.

I love animals, however before becoming a Vet wouldn't it make sense for me to have be able to show some level of knowledge on the subject??

Hope this helps.

By the way there are basicly 80 questions, however it took, oh I don't know, 3 hours for the whole process, spread accross 3 times. It was rather easy. All it took was me showing that I had the knowledge and was willing to strive to follow Bible principles.

Once a person is baptized they become "ministers" and are then obligated to preach as commanded at Matt 28:19,20.

The questions that are asked are accompanied by several scriptures. The baptismal candidate has the book with the questions and the scriptual answers right in front of him as he is asked the questions.

This is not done as a "test", rather it is done to show that the candidate understands the SCRIPTUAL reasons for our beliefs and it also equips him/her to use those scriptures to explain his/her beliefs to others in the ministry.

Baptism is different from dedication.

Baptism demonstrates one's public formal agreement to serve God and Christ; it seems rather obvious that a person who makes a formal agreement should understand that agreement. Of course, the bible teaches that baptism should be preceded by sincere repentance, resolved conversion, and heartfelt dedication.

No formal questions are required for a person to dedicate himself to God and Christ, as that dedication is expressed personally and prayerfully directly to heaven. Similarly, no human can prevent another from "converting", since "converting" really describes an inner change.

Conversion literally means "a turning around" from one's former course of ungodliness. That happens in the heart, not in a baptismal pool.

(1 Peter 3:15,16) But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts... Hold a good conscience

(Ephesians 3:17-19) Have the Christ dwell through your faith in your hearts with love; that you may be rooted and established on the foundation... and to know the love of the Christ

(1 Thessalonians 2:4) We have been proved by God as fit to be entrusted with the good news, so we speak, as pleasing, not men, but God, who makes proof of our hearts.

(James 4:7-10) Subject yourselves, therefore, to God... 8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you indecisive ones. ...10 Humble yourselves in the eyes of Jehovah, and he will exalt you.

Consider a parallel... a human may prevent you from singing, but he cannot prevent you from "singing in your heart". Keep praying, and look for opportunities to do all that you can do in God's service. You can that right now, without waiting for or convincing anyone!

(Ephesians 5:18-20) Keep getting filled with spirit, speaking to yourselves with psalms and praises to God and spiritual songs, singing and accompanying yourselves with music in your hearts to Jehovah, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ giving thanks always for all things to our God and Father.
