Yes but with the Irish UILLEANN PIPES where air is not blown from the mouth into the bag for the sound, but is pumped by a bellows attached to the arm.

Yes, I believe they did. The Germans hated that sound of the bagpipes.

Not entirely sure but wouldn't surprise me in the least the Pipes were used by Irish Regiments as well as Scots.
