Check with your local schools, they often have furniture they are replacing and don't charge much. Garage sales, also.

I'm 18 y/o but I still remember how I would have liked it. 1. Since your teaching second - fourth, i would get some very basic books incase some kids need to have more basic words and some other books that go into chapters and smaller text like maybe goosebumps or those captain underpants series and toss in a wheres waldo book for entertainment :P. 2. try a half circle with the open half being the chalk board. 3. paint ball! lol jk, uh how bout having a class pet if thats an option at your school. Maybe just have book reading where you select a book and have each student read 3-4 lines, but that could be bad if a kid struggles in reading and might be made fun of (it happens sadley). 4. Glues / Erasers / pencils / pens / sharpies / paper, careful if you buy white out, some schools have rules against it due to people sniffing it. 5. Just try to make the class as fun as possible, and so all the kids enjoy it. If any of the students have input on what they would like, always listen to their opinions and see if you can make it happen. Good luck in your teaching career and i hope your successful :] 5.

School district auctions. Call the superintendent's office for dates and times. I even acquired--FREE- a book that is worth about $150 and no longer in print. There are Bookcases, and tables with cubby-holes, and little chairs-Even a used deep sink from the cafeteria and generators and lawn mowers. Great bargains! Cheap or free.

try this website:

There is always something from a school system for sale. Especially now with the new school year starting. I don't know what part of the country you are in, or if there is anything close enough to you, but it is a neat site.

while reading a book, you're stimulating your brain. You better your literacy and reading skills and you simply along the way, become more literate. Despite having today's modern technology, you nevertheless still need to have the ability to read.
While you're watching t.v. can be good fun, it is not doing anything to the human brain.
