I've been off work with a fractured tibia. I'm going back tomorrow and where I work its all female and can be very b*tchy. If your face doesn't fit then they'll make your life hell and make you leave. Since being off sick, the very few phone calls i've had from work have been cold and not very friendly. I'm really worried that when i go back that the management inparticular will make my life hell and make me leave. I get on well with some of the people who work there but I've seen it happen so many times before nice people are driven out by my b*tch if a boss. Anyone got any advise as to what to do or stop me worrying???

Oh god poor you, I know exactly how you are feeling as the same thing happend to me a few years ago. I was off work for 8 weeks as I broke my hand.
What makes matters worse is that because you have been away for so long you are probably feeling like everyones been talking about you behind your back and slagging you off because you have been away for so long. But I can promise you this probably isn't the case. Since you have been gone they have probably been just getting on with their work and chatting about all the other office politics and crap that goes on.
Just go back tomorrow, lift your head up high and be happy to be back. (even if you aren't). Maybe buy some cakes for everyone. Say hello to everyone and just be kind and polite. Just remember its only a job and you'd be able to find another one if need be, so dont worry yourself and get a good nights sleep tonight.
good luck and have a good day

Sorry about your injury, why would they be nasty to you when you have been off for a genuine injury!! Do you really enjoy your job? If it is that bad then I would start to look for something else. at least then you will have something to aim towards and if it is bad in work you will get through knowing there is escape at the end.

Do you have a good personnel department, management should not be making anyone's life hell (how did they get to be managers acting like that, I was a manager for some time and had to do everything by the book and rightly so). They should welcome you back and make sure you settle in properly, it can be a bit daunting when you have been off for a while.

Seriously though, if you are able, I would look for something else, no-one should feel intimidated at work.

Good luck.

Yes,

firstly stupid work places usually lose money and close.

Secondly, you shouldn't worry about it. Come back ready to work.

Walk around stiffly and wince in pain at least once every 10 minutes for the first weak. Then they will think you are motivated to work.

Basically I go to work, do the best job I can, and let everything else slide.

Get out there and make your mark, I'm sure you'll be able to set a fine example by laying the smack-down if it comes to it.

You were injured, put up with any sly remarks and make the most of your day. It's just a job!

Get out their and be prepared to fight back. if they are bitches get some practise in. Bear in mind that injuries usually leave you in a depress frame of mind sooner or later.
If this is the case it will soon pass if not,!!!
Question; Is the job worth it?

Just go in and be as happy as possible. If negativity arises either confront your boss or go to human resources. Take care
