Too many telemarketers, even after I've put my number on the no-call list numerous times.

I find it just the opposite. I am annoyed that most people seem to think it's polite to answer their phone no matter who is around. Caller I.D. and answering machines have made it easier to note who is calling and get back to them when it is more convenient or when you do not have guests or whatever. Just because the phone rings, it does not mean that everyone has to hop to and answer. It's about good manners.

I'm sorry. Had I know it was you who called, I would have answered. But, my wife was sitting right there and I would have had all this explaining to do. Kidding aside, most people are the center of their own little universe these days and all the world revolves around only them. I'm like you, when my phone rings and I'm home, I answer it. Always.

I think the best invention made was caller i.d. Now you don't feel like you have to answer the phone. It's just a matter of convenience. Sometimes you just don't feel like talking at the moment. Personally, I hate talking on the phone, and screen all my calls. But I usually answer if its someone I know (and like). I never answer Unknown, Private or Blocked calls. Always seems like they're bad news.

Most of the time, I screen my calls because I honestly don't like talking on the phone just have a conversation. Unless you're calling me to confirm something, make plans, or ask something, I really don't appreciate people calling me. If you honestly want to talk to me, come on over and meet me face to face :)
Also, I find it rather impolite to answer your phone when talking to someone. It's sort of like saying "Hold on, this person is more important than you." Atleast, that's how I view it.

It's much more annoying to call a number and have it just ring.
Who even has a home phone anymore? Just get a cell phone.

Good point! It's actually pretty humorous don't you think?
People sitting there listening to their phones ring 15 times but don't wish to be bothered!

This other guy Buttercup has it sewn up. I am constantly being bombarded by people trying to persuade me to sell paper flags for charity, do fun runs, take out insurance etc, so I don't blame people for not picking up.

To avoid telemarketers and bill collectors. We have caller id and if we don't recognize the number we don't answer the phone. It's easier to let it ring then it is to keep saying no to telemarketers.
